  • (Gustavo Souza) Latin America Call for Action on Digital Rights

Indela (Iniciativa por los Derechos Digitales en Latinoamérica) is launching a new, more flexible open call, intended to support projects that respond to the urgent needs of the digital rights ecosystem in the region.

In particular, Indela’s 2021 Open Call will support projects that protect and advance rights affected by digital technologies, and that are submitted by organizations based in Latin America. We will consider proposals for projects on public campaigns, applied research, and/or public policy advocacy, for funding up to a maximum of US$25,000, that can be implemented within a six-month period. In addition, each project will be eligible for specialized consultancies to strengthen the impact of the project as well as the overall work of the applicant organization.

At Indela, we are reaffirming our commitment to strengthening digital rights in the region by supporting the organizations that defend them. We believe we must act now to address the specific and urgent challenges facing Latin Americans, by expanding and protecting our digital rights.

The 2021 call will be open from April 15 to May 15.

  • (Eileen Cejas) DC Survey: Submission on behalf of the YCIG

The YCIG, as part of the recognised dynamic coalitions, is invited to participate in a survey that aims to collect input on the work of each DC.  This will later feed into a DC paper being developed by the DC Coordination Group and the IGF Secretariat.
Hence, we would like to invite you to collaborate on this collective document by sharing your feedback and ideas on our dynamic coalition. It will help us to provide a very detailed summary of the impact achieved at the YCIG and how we can improve the intersessional work of the IGF.
You have time to comment on the document until April 23 at 23:59 UTC.

  • (Nadia Tjahja) Conference on the Future of Europe

The Conference on the Future of Europe is a unique and timely opportunity for European citizens to debate on Europe’s challenges and priorities. No matter where you are from or what you do, this is the place to think about what future you want for the European Union.
Let the Conference know your opinion. Your ideas will be collected, analysed, monitored and published on the platform, throughout the Conference. They will then feed into the discussions taking place in the European citizens’ Panels and the Plenaries. A feedback mechanism will ensure that the ideas expressed during the Conference events result in concrete recommendations for EU action. The final outcome of the Conference will be presented in a report to the Joint Presidency.
Note there is a specific topic dedicated to the Digital Transformation. You are welcome to submit your ideas, comments and to organise a related event!

  • (Nicolás Fiumarelli) ICTs, Youth & Environment – WSIS Forum 2021

This session could be of interest for the group:Tomorrow Friday 23th April – 12.00 (UTC)Thematic Workshop
https://www.itu.int/net4/wsis/forum/2021/Agenda/Session/429. One million species are at risk of extinction, 10 million hectares of forests are lost annually, and with a global average temperature of 1.1°C above estimated pre-industrial levels, the global community is far off track to meet the Paris Agreement targets.New ideas and quick action are needed for systematic transformational changes.Young people have many ideas for innovative solutions and the drive to make a change, but it can be difficult for changemakers to make their voices heard and reach the right people to turn ideas into action.ICTs can be part of the solution. The speed and scale of digital innovations not only provide a growing number of opportunities for sustainable development, but ICTs are enabling ideas to be heard and scaled up globally. In the context of the WSIS Special Track on ICTs and Youth, this session strives to highlight the interplay between youth, ICTs, and the environment and how youth are using ICTs to engage in environmental protection and to scale up their ideas and solutions.
